The Ovello vineyard is one of the most prized crus in the entire village of Barbaresco. The bulk of this old-vine nebbiolo fruit ends up in the local co-op's excellent riserva, but Renato Vacca bottles a small amount for his family¿s estate. Soft, elegant and feminine, yet still powerful, with aromas of menthol, dried roses, balsamic and earth. Full, ripe flavors of stewed plum, dark cherry and licorice coat the mouth on the round, tannic finish. Open when you start that herb-roasted rack of lamb- a few hours to breathe will only improve this beauty.
